FIRST STEPS Adoption Planning is the place to start if you are thinking of adoption.
FIRST STEPS assists you with:
- processing initial thoughts on adopting
- narrowing your adoption interests (i.e., international, domestic, foster-to-adopt)
- evaluating what programs are viable for you and your family
- evaluating and choosing an agency
- attaining a general understanding of the domestic or international adoption process
- finding avenues to finance your adoption
- locating resources such as support groups, educational materials, etc.
- locating documentation for dossier/homestudy
- navigating USCIS and other entities
As a non-profit organization, we strive to make this critical service available at low cost and work with only a manageable number of families at a time.
An initial 1-hour planning conference is only $50. The initial conference can take place in our offices, on the phone, or through the web. Some families will only need the initial conference to proceed with adoption plans but others may need ongoing guidance and assistance in the months following the initial meeting. For these families, assistance will be provided for a fee that will be discussed with each family individually.
